Bookmark Giftstravaganza, for Cancer Research

bookmarks

The bookmarks went so quickly last week that I decided to make more! The result? I have 20 new bookmarks for sale! So here's the deal. Each bookmark is $6, and $3 for postage and envelope and fees. But if you buy a bookmark for yourself, I'll let you buy another for someone else and I'll pay the shipping. So, say, you want one (or two!) and put down $9... then decide that your friend could use a pick-me-up and buy him one... you only pay another $6, not another $9.

If you want it to be a surprise, you'll have to contact me backchannel (haikujaguar at gmail) and either give me their address or their contact information. I'll send them an email or LJ message saying, "Surprise! Someone has bought you a bookmark! How do I send it?" (or if you want to be known: "Surprise! So-and-so has bought you a bookmark!"

So if you want a bookmark, leave me a comment and tell me which one(s) so I can make sure they haven't been bought out yet. But if you can't afford one and still want one, leave a comment so maybe someone can give you one. :)

Finally, if I sell all twenty bookmarks, I'll donate 10% of the profit to Johns Hopkins Ovarian Cancer Research. This is one of my perennial charities; while my mother had breast cancer (twice!), I feel that breast cancer already has a lot of attention. Ovarian cancer is scary and under-publicized...usually by the time you realize you have this kind of cancer, it's too late. So when I can, I drop some dollars here for research.

So, then, without further ado, here are the designs I've made! I have 5 each! [info]tuftears has started us off by buying one of the eperu "Wind-weaver" bookmarks so we only have 19 to go!

I SO wish I had some extra cash right now. :( I was going to ask how long this special will be going on but I expect the answer is "until the 20 I made are sold." :) I'll ping you next week when I have monies.

I love the bookmark I got with my copy of Alysha's Fall, and it's held up really well to constant use. I'm hoping there there may be some left by the time I get paid Friday (specifically Harvest Goddess, Water Knower, or Wind Weaver). I'd love to have one or two others to add to the rotation. <3!

Beautiful. What are they made of?

I print them out on nice heavyweight matte paper out of my printer... then take them outside and adhere them to Strathmore Bristol plate sheets. I spray them with a matte-finish fixative, just to keep them from warping when exposed to humidity. After that I trim them, round the corners and punch the holes in them. All the materials are acid-free; the two sprays (adhesive and fixative) are photo-safe.

I sign them in metallic ink before packing them in bookmark-shaped plastic sleeves for shipment.

It's a little time-consuming, but I really don't like laminated bookmarks. They just feel... cheap to me. :/

I agree. Your process sounds like it produces a nice bookmark.

I've looked around and can't find an answer; can I buy a copy of The Aphorisms directly from you, or do I need to go through Amazon?

You can go through Amazon, or you can buy it directly from Createspace if you so prefer. :)
