So in the middle of my exhaustion, I figured I might as well paint, so... I did. Not just "Willow"; I hauled out a couple more to work on between her layers drying.

On the Coffee Table

I made a crazy painting parlor out of the living room, with pillows, candles, music and incense. It wasn't intentional, I'm just so used to cleaning up that room for company that... well, I was on auto-pilot. But it was really pleasant, even if it did feel a trifle decadent, like painting in some kind of artist's seraglio.

I've also started keeping all my color tests/thumbnails in one clear folder, which you can see on the floor there.

Willow's Back

This painting is almost done! I'm so close I can feel it! Another session? Two? It would be so good to be done...!

But as I said, I started a couple more to keep myself working:

More paintings!

In this case, it's "Just Because (I Love You)" and "Hadara and the Sun King," which I've always wanted to finish and at this point seems like serious low-hanging fruit, compared to the complexity of the things I do now!

New folks, feel free to click on the painting titles... that'll show you closer views of the pictures than these photos. :)

Tomorrow I have something special planned... plus I want to muse on reading and RPGs. But for now I flop.

Stardancer Home.

My hair does that now! I am so excited. It's not quite that long, though... when it's try it's a few inches shy of my waist. :)

Watercolor, yes? Are you finally using your new brushes? grins

And Ooooo, RPGs? ears perk - as much as human ears can, that is As someone working on a mechanics system, and a lover of RPGs in general, I look forward to tomorrow.

An odd question, too - have you received an Email from me recently, to the website Email address? I ask, not as a prod, but because I suspect something may be awry with that address.

*flips around* Hmm. Is that the one about the sketch print that I missed because I can't read? -_-

Whew! Yes, it is!

Really, it wasn't a prod (I'll buy it if it's available and when you have the time) - the reason I had been worried is that I'd used that Email address...oh, probably sometime back in early March and never heard back (but I got an answer right here on your LJ which led to the full BC reading) and the BC reading had a different Email and so it suddenly occurred to me that you might have that website Email on a forwarder and that maybe that forwarder had gone wonky, and...I'm rambling.

Anyway! Obviously, I was worried over nothing, and now have the appearance of an annoying person who continually pokes someone until said person slaps their hand and goes "WHAT?!?"

Ah, don't worry about it. I'm having serious trouble keeping up with everything... it's not your fault. The stardancer address gets more spam, so I'm more likely to miss something (unfortunately). So it's less about whether people got through and more whether the human element was online at the time, and actually functional. :)

Oh, yes, I forgot to answer: Yes, I'm using the new brushes (one of them is already going bad, I've used the heck out of it on the Willow piece). And the RPG entry is up. :)

Thanks for sharing. It's interesting to see Willow almost done, and the first delicate layers of the others coming in.

Curses! Foiled again. I'll just have to remember to get some money in my Paypal account and beg a nice big print off you when I have braiiiinz. (Poke me on this. I want. My brainz are lost, though.)

...first dibs on "Just Because (I Love You)" if you're willing to part with the original? O:D

That original is not for sale! Even if it was, it would probably be in the $3K range. :)

But I will sell prints!

Oh! You know, I don't think of watercolor/gouache as a patient medium at all. You have to work so fast before it dries on you...!

I mean that only n the sense of not knowing how to get it to do what I envision in my mind's eye... I need more practice with it, that's all.

At the time I last used watercolor, I was exclusively painted with oils..now that I use acrylics more, maybe I'll do better with them. I've never used gouache before; is it very different than watercolor?

Gouache is like more vivid, more opaque watercolors. Not as densely pigmented as acrylics... it's like watercolors's more intense sister. I love it... it has all the versatility, fast dry times and surprise of working with watercolors, but with more coverage. :)

I too started with oils! I miss them still, a little.

Do you ever plan on going to a con to show work? And if you ever do, will there be ample notice?

And if you never do, can I dream of one day when I can watch you watercolor?

I want to paints wif you.

Ah well. *goes to dig in her watercolors*

Sure, I don't see why I wouldn't go to a con. I like them, sometimes. Are there any you go to specifically?

Well, as long as your open to planning, finding a con that would be easy for us to both go to in the next year or so should be doable. This year I'm going to Gen Con Indianapolis, and have my tickets in hand. Let me know if your interested in going to something that large though and I wouldn't hesitate to take time to meet up and paint. :)

Other than that, I've shown art at a Arcon, which is a sci/fi fantasy convention that is a little more local here in Missouri. However, I'm up for travel as well.

Anything can be achieved with planning and being as you have a little one, and I do not, it would be much easier for me to travel somewhere more accessible for you- come time.

Do you have any conventions your interested in?

I tend to go places with a high cluster of people I like, or that I'm invited to. No particular plan anymore, though. Maybe next year someone will want me to Guest. We'll see. :)

I love your art work! I love painting and drawing...anything with a creative outlet (in terms of writing and drawing anyway). I am taking a drawing class next semester and I am very excited about it! ^_^ I hope to be an art teacher once I get out of school. Something to do with my bachelors and licensure anyway for the meantime. What I really want to do is write! ^_^
