Hello... Goodbye! *ring* *ring*
I just watched my daughter roll from lying down to sitting up, all by herself... and then grab her toy cellphone and expertly start flipping it open and closed to make it ring and say, "Hello, Goodbye!" to her.

...

This is my future, isn't it. *chortle*

No doubt her first words will be "Need upgrade!"

I don't know if you had this when you were growing up, but you remember those Fisher Price rotary telephone toys? They were white with red dials?

They still sell those, but now they have cellphones too (and toy laptops!). At first I was like, "Oh, please!" And then I thought, "But... toys are supposed to prepare you for your life, right?" And then it made more sense.

But it's still startling. :)

I didn't have one of those, but, my parents weren't too smart with me... *laughs* they bought me one of those Fisher-Price lawnmower things where the little plastic balls inside would bounce around and it made really irritating clicking sounds when you pushed it. I ADORED that thing and ran around the house with it All Day.

They'd learned their lesson by the time Michelle came along and bought her quieter toys. :)

Oh, yeah, I know that one already. Nowadays when I hear Beethoven I see puppets in my head. O_O

Meh heh, those poppers were insane...

I've had a lot of people tell me that Baby Einstein is mindnumbing, but as she gets a little bit older, LITTLE Einsteins is awesome.

"We're goin on a trip in our favorite rocket ship zoomin throooooooooooough the sky, Little Einsteins!"

They have a guest piece of music and a piece of art for every episode. >_> It rates HIGH on the Good Kid Shows that Don't Annoy the Living Hell Out of the Grownups list. :)

I vote for Cyberchase, on PBS, as a great bit of math-centric stuff. I like watching it! It's fun! Also, the kid was introduced to math concepts early and does loads better in math than I ever did.

Nah. By the time she's old enough, cell phones will be gone, and we'll all be communicating telepathically. ;D

I feel for you. A couple of weeks ago, Miss Ma'am (who is 5 and in Kindergarten) got her first phone call from a friend. Twenty-fivish minutes later I realized I was doomed. So very doomed. ^_^

You will blink and she will be asking for the car keys.

And then a car.

Yee. -_-

I wonder if she'll be like me. My parents had to force me to learn to drive. Heh. I probably won't get that lucky!
