Willow's Crown
Back to work by lamp-light while it thunders outside...

Rainbow Palette

Look how clean my palette is for a change! Today I used most of my color range, though, from yellow to purple. The only thing I haven't used at all in this painting (surprisingly for me) is red.

Mmm, alcohol.

I believe in wild yawps when you do something worthy of them. In this case, when I started painting I failed to give Willow believable hair on the crown of her head. Not only did I fix that, but by happy accident the result made it look like she has layers of hair on top of one another. So to celebrate this victory, I made myself a gin and tonic and...

Willow's Crown

...contemplated her partly-completed hair some more. Mmm, fwoosh.

Mmm, hot chocolate.

Halfway through the celebratory gin and tonic, I discovered that I was getting loopy because (smart thing that I am) I forgot that carbonated alcohol hits me like a sack of bricks. Since I wanted to continue working instead of hanging out at the table grinning like an idiot, I dumped the remainder of it and hauled out the celebratory hot chocolate instead.

Yay Baby!

The baby slept through this enterprise (more or less). I had to get up a couple of times to give her back her pacifier. :)

Here's the progress for the night. Won't be long now before I finish it... thank goodness, because I have a pile-up of paintings waiting for me after this one.

Seconding request for more baby pics! PLEASE. How about a baby post? I want to see her cuteness.

She is far more charming than I am. It's fun to watch her make people smile everywhere we go. :)

I approve of both celebratory beverages, excellent painting skills and progress, and a sleeping baby. :D

Wigglet in a crib full of plush critters = ♥

I couldn't work if there was a storm going on. I'd be outside revelling in it. *^_^*

I used to take a shot of rum to relax before inking comics. Otherwise my hand would shake. :P

*sings* gorgeous!
And speaking of a pile-up, I'm about halfway done with your socks. I've decided to estimate my time on them from now on, so they should go much faster. Turns out that when I have to track my time spent on something I spend less time on it. Would you like to see pictures of what I have so far, or would you prefer a surprise?

My mom made her a couple of afghans. :)

My mother was always making afghans when I was younger. We had ten or so I think. When I got married and prepared to move out, my mom asked me what I wanted, that I could have anything I wanted. And I said, "I want all your afghans."

And she laughed and said, "Sure!"

I said, "No, you don't understand. Every one of them."

So, completely bemused, she watched as I went into my new home toting all seven of the remaining ones. She had no idea they meant so much to me. To this day, I prefer them to any blanket. :)

You need to start learning the crochet thing. It's like a requirement to be That Old Cuban Lady. ;)

I know how to crochet, actually. I just realized while learning it that I crocheted during the same "mindless periods" that I drew: while listening to the TV, for instance. Given the same hour, I'd rather be drawing. :)

I knew you loved afgahns, and was pleased to see your Wigglet with a nice homemade one. Some traditions should continue.

And I second the comment on learning to crochet, although heavens above, you're already creative enough for ten people. And I'm not sure when you would have time.

Alas, I don't have the time to crochet... it eats into my drawing time. :/

But these afghans my mother made will be family heirlooms, I know. Hopefully she'll make the baby some colored ones, though. I notice the baby likes to grab the colored granny square afghans, but she doesn't have the same impulse with these pure white ones.
