Daughter at 4 Years
The other day we were in the coffee shop playing with Jenga blocks, setting them up in long spirals and rows so she could knock them down. This was great fun, and we did it several times before she said, "Like dominoes!"
"That's right," I said, setting up a new spiral. "We use dominoes to do this too."
"We have those in your BELLY," she said abruptly.
"What?" I said.
"In our BELLIES," she said. "We have up-dominoes."
"Up... what?" I said. "We don't have blocks in our stomachs..."
"NO, MOMMY," she said, frustrated with my thickheadedness. She pulled up her shirt and pointed. "HERE. UP-DOMINOES."
"Up... dom..." I trailed off while she pointed from the top of her stomach to her navel. "Up... ABDOMINALS. Abdominals?"
"YES," she said, putting her shirt down, at which point I started laughing until my ribs hurt.
"Abdominals!" I said at last, wiping my eyes. "Where did you learn that?"
"From Coach T," she said, looking at my spiral to see if it was ready for knocking-down.
"Coach T!" I said, laughing again. "Yes, Coach T is right. The muscles in your belly are called abdominals."
"That's what I SAID," she said.
Up-dominoes, folks. OMG. I still giggle thinking about it.
Busy week! Black Blossom went up today. We'll have an extra chapter Friday. Friday night I'll be doing a livestream. In between I'll be working on the Three Micahs--the communication chapter is already 25 pages long--and fielding proposals for Spots the Space Marine's hard copy. I'm also going to color-test the Spots-with-gun piece; I've decided I'm trying to go too complicated with it for a book cover piece and I'm paring down the design elements, which means once I draw the door (a nice rectangle, that!), I am good to go.
Yesterday I put up a big news post too, lots of exciting stuff. If you missed it, have a look.
